Built in 1979, The University Mall was expanded and renovated in various parts from 2005 to present. The University Mall will be rebranded to University Marketplace in 2021.
Most structural components, including; roof sections, HVAC units, fascia, and landscaping, have been updated.
Brookings is adding an I-29 interchange at 20th St South and I29. This will positively impact the traffic counts on 22nd Ave in front of the University Marketplace. Construction began in 2022 and will be completed in 2023.
As Brookings continues to grow the vast majority of the new rooftops are constructed on the south side of town north and south of the 20th St South corridor which begins a little less than 1 mile south of the University Marketplace.
